merennbunnlinje.linkutvikling.no
This initiative is a voluntary project developed by an engaged group of people with a strong desire to activate the business community to take action. The portal is designed for those who wish to gain professional knowledge while supporting an important humanitarian cause. All donations go directly to the work of Doctors Without Borders in war-torn areas, enabling them to continue providing rapid and effective medical assistance to those who need it most.
I would like to thank Hana Colakovic and Fredrik Fornes, who, with valuable assistance from Michelle Sæther, are behind this initiative. Their contribution to our life-saving work demonstrates a compassion and commitment that they should be proud to possess. On behalf of our staff and patients, I want to express my heartfelt thanks for your caring. Together, we save lives.
Functions
Registration and Login
To access the portal, users must register an account. This process is completed in three steps to easily track where the user is in the process and to return them to the appropriate step if they interrupt for any reason. The first step involves entering an email and password to authenticate the user. The next step collects information about the user, where they define whether they represent an individual or a company, or if they wish to remain anonymous in the portal. The final step involves making a donation, where users must donate a minimum of 250 NOK. This payment is processed through Stripe. Once we confirm that the payment has been completed, the user can proceed into the portal. Users can log in again to the portal using their email and password.
Videos
The main page of the portal features videos from both Doctors Without Borders and renowned speakers in Norway. Users can click on these videos to watch them and read more about the speakers and the video content. There is also a list of other videos from the portal for quick access.
Donations
The portal includes a page that displays all donations, along with a total sum for the donations. The list is sorted by the size of the donations, with the largest amounts at the top. Donations are also marked as either Private, Company, or Anonymous. If the user is a private individual or a company, their name will also be displayed here. If desired, users have the option to donate again from this page. Users can donate as many times as they wish, and the amounts will be added to the total for the user/company in the donation list.
Information
The portal contains several information pages - there is a dedicated information page within the portal, a landing page when you open the portal, as well as pages for the privacy policy and terms of use.
Technology
The client side is developed in Vue with TypeScript, while the backend consists of a database, image storage, and authentication via Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, and Storage), along with a Node server to handle payments. The portal integrates with Stripe for managing donations. The videos are stored and hosted on Vimeo.
The Initiative
This fundraising campaign was initiated by Hana Colakovic and Fredrik Fornes, with valuable assistance from Michelle Sæther in developing the platform. The initiators aimed to engage the business community more significantly in the ongoing conflicts and the daily violations of human rights occurring just a few thousand kilometers away from us.
The goal of developing the portal is to inspire action by providing something useful in return to those who support it. This initiative is not politically motivated but is a concrete effort to promote human rights and provide emergency assistance where it is needed most.
