Svippin's story is quite fascinating for those who are easily intrigued.
The company started in 2018 with a proprietary application that focused on incentive mechanisms and gamification with its own map solution. The technology was sought after, and not only in the initially intended industry. This led the company into a realignment where Svippin's technology was gradually applied to new markets and applications, which also opened up other exciting missions.
The company has won several awards for the concept; among them the Entrepreneurhub Prize by VIS innovation and SR Bank, the Innovation Award from the University College of Western Norway, Student Ideas competitions, and received NOK 1,000,000 from the Norwegian Research Council. The founders were also nominated for the Fredrik Quam Award 2020.
Transition
The infamous COVID pandemic left its mark on the company where the application that was supposed to increase attendance in the city cores could no longer be launched in the market. This external market push led us to undertake a realignment internally where we now provide business and software development — not just for ourselves — but for others as well. Svippin went from being focused on one app - the Svippin app - to becoming a developer agency offering app and web solutions tailored to customer needs.
We take care of everything from planning, to implementation and development, to operation. The team works in an interdisciplinary hub between innovation, creative project management and technology. We are comprised of master's degree expertise in innovation and business development, and 13 years of experience in user-driven development. And with us we have a wide network of business developers, designers, development professionals, and creative leaders.
The year 2021 was an exciting year for Svippin. In addition to designing and developing several internal projects, we also gained loyal customers who wanted business and software development for external use. The company grew from 3 to 10 team members and budgets were multiplied. With two women at the head, Svippin is a provider of quality in development, where all development and other processes are proudly in-house.
The Way Forward
So, what's up with Svippin? The team is made up, the creative conversations and efficient processes are made up, previous clients and productions are made up - but the brand has changed. We enter the year 2022 with a change of name, logo and motivation, where Link Development now has more opportunities than what Svippin had before. Svippin will forever be an important part of the company's history, but we are now ready for new challenges and new linker in the market.
