Introduction
www.westcoast.no
We designed and developed the new website for Westcoast with a focus on optimising the user experience and a seamless design.
Westcoast is a fish export company based in Bergen with production in Lofoten. They offer high-quality, sustainable seafood to the global market. Westcoast got in touch with us wanting to renew their website while improving functionality and brand identity. The company was founded in 1993 by Bjarte Flem and Skude Fryseri.
Our approach to the website was driven by the goal of giving visitors seamless navigation and access to relevant information. We implemented user-friendly features to improve how easily information can be found, and made sure the design is responsive so it displays well across devices.

We are very impressed by the professionalism and customer service of Link Utvikling. They were pleasant to work with and communication was fast. Link Utvikling brought our vision to life on our new website, and it exceeded all expectations. We will recommend Link Utvikling to all our partners and customers.
Design and experience
Design
We used the Westcoast colours on the site in a discreet way, combined with a white background for a more minimalist and clean design. We brought the fish icons from the Westcoast logo onto the site to strengthen recognition and identity. The fish icons work as a way of communicating and tie Westcoast even closer to the seafood industry. This also creates a more coherent visual experience for visitors. In the footer we added a curved shape to recreate a wave, bringing more harmony with the theme of the site.

The solution
Animation and navigation
For the new Westcoast website there was a wish for the site to feel more alive. We handled that by adding subtle animations, for example in the header (move the cursor across for a droplet effect), in the footer (a wave that follows the movement of the mouse) and with bubbles around the fish.
Navigation was also simplified by cutting several subpages and taking users straight to what they are looking for. We also built a dedicated filtering function for the products Westcoast offers, so visitors can easily find information about the different species.
The solution
SEO
Alongside the visual side we also focused on search engine optimisation to increase the visibility and availability of Westcoast online. The new website therefore represents not only an aesthetic upgrade, but a strategic approach to strengthening presence and interaction with the target audience.
