Milepel AS

Website and Studio for Milepel

Website and a dedicated editing tool for the place developer building in Western Norway since 1996.

The milepel.no home page with the headline about places to live, experiences to share and communities to belong to.

Introduction

Milepel has developed places in Western Norway since 1996. The portfolio runs from the Skjoldnes housing project and the 49 apartments in Nordnes Park to the student housing at Milepel Campus and the Ulriken643 meeting place. The company describes it as one ecosystem in three dimensions: places, experiences and community.

We designed and built the new website at milepel.no, along with a dedicated editing tool that lets Milepel run all the content themselves. The site launched in August 2026.

The challenge

The challenge

Milepel is not an ordinary property company, and an ordinary property website would not have told the story. The projects belong together, and the value lies as much in the people and the meeting places as in the square metres. At the same time the site had to work in very practical terms: someone looking for a home or an office should find what is available, with a price and a link onward, without having to search.

The content also changes constantly. Homes are sold, offices become vacant, new projects arrive. The solution therefore had to be something Milepel could update themselves, without contacting us for every change.

The concept

The concept

We built the site around the idea of the ecosystem. The home page opens with the three promises — places to live, experiences to share, community to belong to — and leads into the three dimensions, where each project belongs to one or more of them. Projects are presented as places with a story, not as entries in a register.

Alongside that sits a separate surface for what is available right now: homes for sale, offices to let and commercial space, with price, size and a link to the listing. That lets the site be both a brand destination and a practical tool, without the two blurring together.

The solution

The solution

The website is bilingual, with Norwegian as the default and English at /en. The content is divided into projects, properties (housing, office and commercial), investments, people and press, all editable by the client.

The press section gathers articles and background material with PDF attachments, and the editor decides which stories are lifted onto the home page and in what order. On the project pages they can add one main image and a gallery at the bottom, and images are scaled down automatically on upload, so the site stays fast even when someone uploads a large photo from their phone.

At the request of the client the site has no contact form. All contact goes directly to Milepel by email and phone.

Design and experience

Design and editing tool

The expression is calm and light, with serif headings, muted earth tones and plenty of air — closer to a magazine than an estate agent portal. The image wall on the home page and the rotating visualisation of the ecosystem give movement without taking attention away from the content.

The editing tool, which we call Studio, is built specifically for Milepel rather than being a standard CMS panel. It was simplified along the way based on input from the client, so that editors only meet what they actually use: projects, properties, investments, people and legal pages. People can be edited directly in the list, and the ordering is handled with arrows instead of number fields.
